“Assistant Professor, Evolutionary Biology
SUNY Buffalo State seeks an evolutionary biologist with a focus on one or more groups of vertebrates or invertebrates. Possible areas of specialty may involve (but are not limited to): evolutionary ecology, evolution of animal behavior, paleobiology, evolutionary morphology, and phylogenetics. Tenure-track, competitive salary, to begin September 1, 2018. The Biology Department has well-equipped research facilities in its recently constructed Mathematics and Science Complex.
Responsibilities: Establish a research program in evolutionary biology involving undergraduate- and Master’s-level students. Teaching responsibilities will include on a rotating basis: (1) upper-division course in evolution, (2) introductory course in ecology and evolution, (3) animal diversity portion of introductory course in organismal biology, and (4) upper-division and/or graduate course(s) in area of specialty. Participate in service to Department and College.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in biological sciences with research experience in evolutionary biology of vertebrate or invertebrate animals.
Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral research and/or teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates whose research complements existing departmental strengths.
